Growing up in an Indian Army family has taught me that separations, postings, conflicts, injuries, and in some cases death is a part of the life cycle. This gave me a strong sense of community. I cannot thank the armed forces enough for teaching me the art of humbleness, adaptability, and how to treat everyone with equality. Even with all of this support, I was quite the introvert. My lack of self worth and self love manifested in many ways and could be seen as frustration, self-doubt, criticism, and chasing other’s acceptance. This was exhausting and allowed my mind to become my worst enemy. When I was finally able to see myself as a gift, I took better care of myself and was happy to show my gifts to others.

We are new everyday and our past doesn’t define us, which means that we can stop playing the role that we are not. I have realized that Reinvention is an art. It is a process and a deliberate practice day in and day out. When we realize who it is we want to be, we discover it’s who we already were all along. Once we understand who we are, that’s when we love ourselves for what we are.
The best way to get to know yourself is through your VITALS. This is an acronym for the 6 building blocks of self …
V : Values – write down 10 important values
I : Interest – What do you pay attention to? What gets your mind curious?
T : Temperament – Do you prefer to plan or be spontaneous? Do you make a decision based on facts or feelings?
A : Around the clock activities – When do you like to do things? Are you a morning or evening person?
L : Life Mission – What is your purpose in life? What have been the most meaningful events in your life?
S : Strengths – What are your skills? Abilities? Character strengths?
Going through your VITALS you will understand who you are and that you are EVERYTHING. You ARE enough!
